In Athens, popular practices book routine cleanings weeks ahead, so call early or ask to be put on a cancellation list; emergency and walk-in clinics are the exception. Check the listing for hours, whether the office takes your insurance or Medicaid, languages spoken, wheelchair access and parking, then confirm by phone: insurance networks and providers change more often than the listings do.

I have had several emergency tooth extractions with smith dental in Athens. I have always been treated promptly and professionally. I donβt know of any other practices that you can walk in without an appointment to receive dental care. I have seen several of the dentist with nothing other than great care from all.

Made a same day appt for severe tooth pain. They promptly got me in and got me established as a patient. After X-rays and a quick consult, they present my options and a tooth extraction was decided upon. They took their time to make sure I was comfortable before beginning the extraction. I never felt rushed. Can't wait to establish a long term treatment plan. Thank you again..

Quick Appointments but 50/50 Service. Hereβs what you need to know as a new patient: Smith Dental is a great place to go if youβre having a problem and need to meet with a doctor fast. They are open everyday from 8am to 8pm including weekends as well which is rare amongst dentist offices. Your average visit will be around 2-3 hours, but each room has a tv playing a different show because they value quantity. As for the actual workers, itβs a mixed bag. The front desk workers are always the highlight of the experience as they are helpful, sweet, and professional. The dental assistants are usually well informed, but there is a new comer here and there that wonβt be able to answer the simplest of questions. As for the doctors, it is 50/50. Some are talented, professional, and will answer all questions that you have. Some doctors are not. If you have an appointment on Sunday, Monday, or Thursday, I recommend requesting a doctor other than Dr. Oh as he tries to arrange expensive procedures without consent from patients, unprofessional in his bedside manner, and honestly, has bad work. If you have the misfortune of having Dr. Oh as a doctor you will most likely have to set an appoin

Had a great experience today! The hygienist/technician was very nice and dentist was straight to the point. I scheduled a consultation with them after getting a bad feeling about proceeding with another dentist and am so glad I did.

Iβve been going to this dentist office for a few years now off and on, and the customer service has declined greatly. I came in for a cleaning and it went well but the doctor just seemed to not care. He came in joking around and asking me about my personal items. I tried talking with him about my wisdom teeth removal but he was in too big a hurry to communicate. Update 8/30/25: I got a bill in the mail saying I owe money for extensive X-rays. I came to get a cleaning and a cleaning only. I am beyond upset by this!
